Officer Involved Shooting in Florence County


Florence County. SC–  A Florence County Deputy was involved in a shooting overnight in Florence after the deputy attempted to stop a vehicle.  The driver fled and reportedly struck a house. When the deputy exited the patrol vehicle the driver attempted to hit the Deputy. The Deputy opened fire in self defense hitting two of the three occupants. Two people were transported with one person being released. A third person has also been taken into custody.

FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW)- The Florence County Sheriff’s office responded to a deputy involved shooting Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office reports a deputy attempted a traffic stop on Lucas Street around 1:20 Thursday morning but the driver refused to stop their vehicle. That driver then led the deputy on a chase that went onto Clement Street through Ingram Street and ended at a home on North Dunbar Street.

According to FCSO officials, when the deputy got out of his vehicle, the driver attempted to run the deputy over. Officials say the deputy fired his duty weapon multiple times in self-defense. Full Story….
