BREAKING- UPDATED- Coroner Confirms Firefighter Killed in Anderson County Accident while directing traffic

PENDLETON, SC– An Anderson County  firefighter was hit and killed while directing traffic at an earlier incident at US 76 and Sandy Springs Road in Pendleton Sunday night at approximatly 2100 hours.  Firefighter Kenneth Stanton of the Sandy Springs Fire Department was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

Coroner: Volunteer firefighter dies following Anderson Co. wreck

ANDERSON, SC (FOX Carolina) –The Anderson County Coroner’s Office is investigating a deadly wreck that occurred Sunday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the fatal crash on US-76 at Sandy Springs Road about 9 p.m.

Coroner Josh Shore said Kenneth Stanton of Pendleton, 52, was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered in the wreck.

Shore said Stanton suffered head trauma and succumbed to injuries in the hospital shortly thereafter.

Stanton’s cousin, Jason Pruitt, said Stanton was a volunteer firefighter…
