Ashley River Fire Department responds to Saturday House Fire

Incident Details: The Ashley River Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in Dorchester Manor at 1551 hours today. Crews checked on scene in 4 minutes. On arrival crews found the B unit of a duplex with fire coming out of the Bravo side porch and significant fire in the living areas. E-102 crew established command and went into fast attack mode. Interior crew worked their way in through the A side entrance, while the backup line crew controlled propane cylinders venting on the B side. Engine 102 Engineer established water supply at a nearby hydrant. Crews extinguished the bulk of the fire on the ground floor and attic until needing to exit for SCBA cylinder change out. OFFD F-5 assumed Command from E-102B. OFFD E-203 relieved the initial attack crew and completed overhaul. NCFD E-204 crew checked the adjacent unit and confirmed no fire extension. ARFD Crews controlled the fire in 10 minutes. Additional support was provided by DCEMS and DCSO. SCE&G responded to secure the power and the American Red Cross was notified for fire victim support services. The fire is under investigation.
