UPDATED: Press Release – Florence County EMS Ambulance Involved in Motor Vehicle Accident

UPDATED: PRESS RELEASE BY FLORENCE COUNTY EMS

FCEMS has a very heavy heart this morning. As many of you may already know from FB and the news a FCEMS ambulance was involved in a serious accident this morning. Below is the official press release from FCEMS. We ask that everyone have FCEMS in their prayers for the crew members involved in the accident.

On Wednesday March 9, 2016 at approximately 5 a.m. a Florence County Emergency Medical Services ambulance was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Lucas Street in Florence.

At the time of the collision, the ambulance was responding to a call for assistance. The ambulance was occupied by two Florence County EMS employees. There were no patients onboard.

Immediately after the collision, additional ambulances from Florence County EMS, along with the City of Florence Fire Department and law enforcement, responded to the scene.

Florence County EMS ambulances transported a total of three people from the scene to an area hospital, including the two medics.

Two of those transported by ambulance had non-life threatening injuries and the other, an EMS employee, suffered serious and potentially life threatening injuries.

The accident is currently under investigation by the City of Florence Police Department and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The staff of Florence County Emergency Medical Services appreciates the thoughts and prayers extended to the injured medics, their families and the entire Florence County EMS family.
