ARRHYTHMIA ALLIANCE & CITY OF HARDEEVILLE THANK SPONSORS FOR SUCCESSFUL FUNDRAISING EVENT
Hilton Head, SC – August 31, 2017 – On Saturday, August 19, 2017, Arrhythmia Alliance and the City of Hardeeville hosted their first annual Fun Run for a Cause 5K and 1 mile Race. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for new automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in The City of Hardeeville’s police vehicles.
Arrhythmia Alliance would like to thank the following sponsors for their contributions toward this event: Coastal Carolina Hospital, Palmetto Electric Cooperative, Ward Edwards Engineering, Minto Communities, Hilton Head Lakes Realstar Builders, Sutton Properties, Inc, and Greater Hardeeville Chamber of Commerce. Without these generous sponsors, the event would not have been possible.
Arrhythmia Alliance Founder Trudie Lobban MBE states, “My team at Arrhythmia Alliance are honored to have the strong support of these wonderful sponsors. We greatly appreciate the support received and look forward to building an even stronger relationship, to place more AEDs in the community.”
Arrhythmia Alliance continues to work with the City of Hardeeville as part of the Defibs Save Lives #HardeevilleHeartsMatter campaign (www.defibssavelives.org/us). Approximately 26 police vehicles each need an AED to help save more lives in Hardeeville from sudden cardiac arrest.
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death among adults over the age of 40 in the United States and other countries. In the U.S. alone, more than 350,000 people suffer out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) each year and most victims (88%) do not survive. SCA also affects many young people; in 2013, the American Heart Association (AHA) reported there are 9,500 cases of EMS-assessed OHCA annually in youth.
