Charleston, SC – With the new date brought on by Hurricane Irma, the 4th annual 9/11 Silent Walk was held this morning. Participants were greeted with much cooler temperatures which was welcomed by those who were walking in full gear. There was one medical emergency reported after a Firefighter collapsed and CPR was performed.

A firefighter participating in the 9/11 Silent Walk across the Ravenel Bridge was rushed to MUSC Sunday morning.

Tian Griffieth, Executive Director of the Silent Walk, confirmed the firefighter collapsed on the Ravenel Bridge at 10:18 a.m.

Griffieth says the firefighter was given CPR by another firefighter next to him and was also given advanced critical care services on the bridge. Specifics on why the firefighter may have required medical attention have not yet been confirmed.
