Greetings! My name is Mary Moravek. I’m a firefighter in Berkeley County, South Carolina, and a member of a local Peer Support Team for Firefighters and all other Public Safety. Our sweet firefighting friend, Lauren Cook, was reporting to shift at her Fire Department on Friday the 13th, 2017. Relatively close to her Station, she collided with a tree while attempting to avoid a dog traveling through a remote area of the Francis Marion Forest. Lauren was extricated out of her mangled vehicle by local firefighters; consisting of her own coworkers. She has had surgery in attempts to repair an open femur fracture. After being discharged from MUSC, Lauren has a very long road of recovering from this traumatic event. While in amazing spirits, Lauren has accepted help in the form of visits, hugs, and teddy bears. She even has been loaned a wheelchair to attend a Firefighter funeral this coming week. As these tokens of assistance are very valuable to help Lauren heal spiritually and even physically; her bills are mounting, and other basic needs still need to be met. If you feel so inclined, please share this campaign. If you have the ability to donate, please be sure to leave your contact information so a “Thank You” note can be sent. Perhaps you can forward a gift card for groceries, a gift card for fuel, or maybe you found a $20 bill in your winter coat you forgot about last season… The possibilities of paying it forward are endless! She has dedicated her life to help others and other Firefighters; please let’s give her a hand paying her light bill, buy groceries, and feed her dogs while she’s healing her broken leg. Prayers and kindness are also very welcome!
