Double Roofs

These were the conditions prior to initial rooftop operations.  At this time companies in the Delta­‐1 exposure noted very light smoke on the top floor and no evidence of fire after pulling ceiling. The intact original roof did a very good job of concealing the extending fire in the double-­‐roof void. Members must note and investigate discrepancies in conditions as noted from the inside to the outside.

A “double roof” is a second roof that is built over top of the building’s original roof, often because the original roof has become leaky or weak and the cost of repairing the original roof is more than installing a new one.
