POSITION: Deputy Fire Coordinator
JOB FUNCTIONS: Plans and directs the Chester County fire program to ensure the proper and safe provision of fire protection services for County citizens. Responsible for conducting all fire investigations and fire code enforcement. Inspects fire department facilities for compliance with OSHA and NFPA guidelines; responds to emergency scenes as requested by on-scene commander for fires, hazardous materials incidents or other emergency agencies; maintains fit test program and compressor program. Develop base line of maintenance of fire fighting vehicles and equipment; maintain current inventories of vehicles and equipment. Prepare reports and correspondence; maintains computer files and performs computer data entry. Reports to the Fire Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by 6-9 years of experience in fire service, code enforcement and the satisfactory completion of required courses in these fields or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Should possess a number of certifications from the S.C. Fire Academy, the National Fire Academy and others. Must be certified as an S.C. State Fire Marshall and possess a valid state driver’s license.
