The Windy
Hill Fire Department in Florence County is currently
accepting applications for three full time
firefighter/drivers positions. The benefit package includes
paid time off, over time pay, medical insurance and state
police retirement. All positions shall work a 24/48 hour
schedule. Minimum applicant requirements are must be 18
years old, have a high school diploma or GED, three years
experience in related field, able to complete a OSHA
1910.156 section (b) part (2) physical, IFSAC firefighter I
certified, Medical First responder, Hazardous Materials
Operations, Basic Rope Rescue, EVDT, SC Class E license,
Pump Operations I, Aerial Operations and be able to obtain
IFSAC Firefighter II within a year of hire. Starting salary
will be $24,600.00 annually.

minimum requirements for the position of rookie class
firefighter. High School Diploma or equivalent, SC
Drivers Licensc, Interior Structural Firefighter, Haz-Mat
Ops, DOT First Responder, Complete an on site interview,
If selected, shall complete an on site physical skills
assessment including job related task as wearing SCBA,
pulling hose, working with ground ladders, etc. Must
pass O.S.H.A. health screening, drug testing,
sucessfully complete a 1.5 mile run, sit-ups and
push-ups. Applicants must show proof of successful
completion of all required certificates. Auto
Extrication and Emergency Vehicle Drivers Training are
desired, but are not required.
